About Me...

About Breann...
This is my first year at TCU! GO FROGS! I am from Euless, TX and was on my high schools drill team. My major is Early Childhood Education! I can't wait to be a teacher! I am a waitress and I love it! I love being around my friends and family! This is the first time I have ever been away from my 4 brothers and sisters, so it is kind of lonely without all of their noise and not always having at least one of them around me at all times. I am actually the oldest and my baby sister is 4 while I am 19 so I feel pretty old compared to her. Just think by the time she is 15 I am going to be 30 yrs old! Wow! I am also very over protective of my brothers and sister. But besides that, I am an outgoing girl that can talk way too much at times and be kind of loud. I was born in Maine then at the age of three started moving with my family. I moved my whole elementary school life, so I went to a million different elementary schools!
I am taking this course because I enjoy writing and this course was highly recommended by my advisor. We had talked about other alternatives however it was decided that this was the best choice in the long run. I have always liked writing in my journal so this was an easy choice for me! I have had a journal since I was 6 and it is a way for me to relax and get things off my mind. Writing has been very influential in my life and has allowed me to express who I am and helped me to develop my thoughts and actions. Writing for research is not my favorite thing, it seems to be boring and dull, I much more enjoy writing, things with more excitement and that are interesting for me to read. I love that I can add personal stories and experiences to stories in this class! Especially, since my whole high school career I was taught to never do that. I tend to be very wordy when I write and I am not a very good speller, I received that trait form my mom, so if I could fix that I feel like I would be a much better writer and would be so happy! In my opinion, the hardest thing about writing is just getting started; it takes me a while to think of something that I can build off of. But, once that idea hits me then the juices keep flowing. My high school English teacher, Mrs. Williams, was my greatest influence for writing. She was the first teacher I have had that really pushed me and made me want to do even better because it was a very challenging class and plus I didn’t want to feel dumb in the class. (hahaha)
I enjoy reading poems and novels involving mysteries, not only are they exciting and entertaining, but the thrill of guessing who the killer is a rush (I usually guess it right!)

I have read, understand, and agree to the terms of the course syllabus.

I completely understand your protective feelings about your siblings; my only brother is 10 years younger than me and is a crazy high school junior right now. :) It's great to hear that you already have frequent writing practices. I've heard about a million times that the best way to improve your writing is to write lots. Hopefully, you'll be able to develop some interest in writing for research this semester by researching topics that truly interest you. I'm looking forward to having you in class this semester! See you tomorrow!
